LayerZeroIT (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a UniFi network, infrastructure and support specialist based in the United Kingdom. We are the “data controller” responsible for your personal data as described in this policy.

What information we collect

We only collect information we need to respond to you and provide our services. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:

  • Enquiry details you give us through our contact form or by email — your name, email address, phone number, business name and the content of your message.
  • Customer and project information if you become a client — contact details, site and installation details, and records of the work we carry out and support we provide.
  • Marketing preferences if you sign up to our newsletter — your email address and the fact that you’ve consented to hear from us.
  • Website usage data — basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type and how you use our site, collected through cookies and similar technology (see “Cookies” below).

Why we use your information, and our lawful basis

Under UK GDPR we must have a lawful basis for using your personal data. Ours are:

  • To respond to your enquiry and provide a quote or advice — legitimate interests (responding to someone who has contacted us) and, where you become a client, performance of a contract.
  • To design, install and support your systems as a client — performance of a contract.
  • To send you newsletters or marketing — consent, which you give when you sign up and can withdraw at any time.
  • To keep our website secure and working properly, and understand how it’s used — legitimate interests, and consent for any non-essential cookies.
  • To meet our legal and accounting obligations — legal obligation.

Marketing communications

If you’ve signed up to our newsletter, we’ll only email you because you asked us to. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time by clicking it or emailing us. We will never sell your details or pass them to third parties for their own marketing.

Who we share your information with

We don’t sell your personal data. We share it only with the trusted service providers that help us run our business, and only so far as they need it to provide their service to us. These may include:

  • our website host — Hostinger;
  • our contact-form and email provider — FastMail;
  • our website analytics provider — Google Analytics;
  • professional advisers such as our accountant, and any authority we’re legally required to share information with.

Each of these acts as our “data processor” and is required to keep your data secure and use it only on our instructions.

Sending data outside the UK

Some of our providers may store or process data outside the UK. Where that happens, we make sure it’s protected by appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law (such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses). How long we keep your information

We keep your information only as long as we need it:

  • Enquiries that don’t become work — [e.g. up to 12 months], then deleted.

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to keep your data secure, including restricting access to those who need it and using reputable, secured providers for our systems. No online service can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we take our responsibility to protect your data seriously.

  • access a copy of the data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data erased in certain circumstances;
  • restrict or object to how we use your data;
  • data portability;
  • withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
